IBM Launches Infrastructure Innovation Centre

New Delhi, March 5: On Thursday, IBM, a prominent player in the IT sector, announced the inauguration of its inaugural Infrastructure Innovation Centre at the newly established India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) campus.

This new centre underscores IBM's strategic commitment to positioning India as a key player in advanced infrastructure engineering and AI innovation, catering to both local and international markets.

Functioning as a collaborative engineering hub, the centre will unite IBM’s systems architects and infrastructure experts from ISDL to co-develop AI solutions alongside clients, independent software vendors, global system integrators, capability centres, and ecosystem partners.

By merging hybrid cloud capabilities with cutting-edge infrastructure technologies and AI solutions, the centre aims to expedite the creation and implementation of secure, scalable enterprise AI systems.

Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, remarked, "India is at a crucial juncture in its AI evolution, and the infrastructure will dictate the speed and extent of innovation for organizations."

He further noted that businesses across various sectors in India are upgrading their essential systems to be AI-ready.

Patel added, "This centre exemplifies IBM’s enduring dedication to India and enhances our capacity to design, construct, and scale infrastructure solutions locally while fostering global innovation."

Subhathra Srinivasaraghavan, Vice President of IBM India Systems Development Lab, emphasized that the effectiveness of AI is directly linked to the supporting infrastructure.

The centre integrates extensive systems engineering expertise with ecosystem collaboration to assist clients in operationalizing AI at scale, ensuring performance, security, governance, and reliability in mission-critical environments.

A recent study by the IBM Institute for Business Value revealed that 58% of Indian organizations have ramped up their infrastructure investments due to the growing demand for AI.

The study anticipates a 19% increase in infrastructure budgets by 2025, with 43% of organizations either establishing or planning AI Centres of Excellence.
