Hyundai Bayon: A New Compact SUV with Hybrid Technology

Hyundai is set to introduce a new Hybrid engine in India, specifically designed for its upcoming Compact SUV, the Bayon. This model will be built on the same platform as the i20 and aims to compete with rivals like the Suzuki Fronx in the Indian automotive market.

Engine Specifications and Performance

The new engine will be positioned between the existing 1.0-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines. The 1.2-litre variant is expected to deliver enhanced torque and performance compared to the 1.0-litre engine while being more compact and fuel-efficient than the 1.5-litre option. Additionally, this engine is being designed to accommodate a Hybrid powertrain, potentially featuring an automatic or e-CVT transmission.

Exterior Design Features of the Bayon

The Bayon's design is reminiscent of the Verna, showcasing a split headlight configuration with an LED strip on the bonnet and angular main lights below. It will also include a honeycomb-patterned air dam, new silver trim, and black plastic cladding around the bonnet. The SUV will be fitted with 31-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and various design cuts and creases.

Interior Amenities and Safety Features

Inside, the Bayon will boast familiar Hyundai features, including a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a driver display of the same size, along with an HVAC control system. Safety features will encompass fast-charging USB Type ports, ambient lighting, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. The vehicle will also offer a spacious 411-litre boot. With the introduction of the new 1.2-litre GDI 4-cylinder petrol engine, the Bayon is expected to complement the existing i20 without replacing it.
