Husband Murders Wife for Insurance Money in Shocking Incident
A Gruesome Crime Unfolds
In a shocking turn of events, a husband committed a heinous act against his newlywed wife, leading to a chilling realization about the dark side of marital relationships. The man allegedly murdered his wife and attempted to stage the incident as a road accident, all for the sake of a life insurance claim worth 30 lakh rupees.
Details of the Incident
This tragic case took place in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. On September 27, the body of a woman was discovered by the roadside, prompting police investigation. Initially, authorities suspected it to be an accident. The victim was identified as Sevanti Kumari, who lived with her husband Mukesh Kumar Mehta in the Sarouni village of the Padma police station area.
Murder for Insurance Money
According to police officer Sanchit Kumar Dubey, Mukesh Kumar Mehta, aged 30, confessed to killing his 23-year-old wife Sevanti on the night of October 9, just four months after their marriage. His motive was to claim the 30 lakh rupees from her life insurance policy, which he had taken out months prior.
The Day of the Crime
On the day of the incident, Mukesh lured Sevanti out under the pretense of a bike ride. During the trip, he attacked her with a helmet and subsequently strangled her to death. He then discarded her body by the roadside and attempted to make it appear as if it were an accident by crashing his bike and injuring himself slightly.
Unraveling the Truth
However, inconsistencies at the crime scene raised suspicions. There were no signs of a collision, and the post-mortem confirmed strangulation as the cause of death. Investigators began to suspect Mukesh when they examined his phone records, which revealed several suspicious calls before and after the incident. He had even discussed the insurance claim with a friend, providing crucial evidence against him.
Ongoing Investigation
During questioning, Mukesh admitted to the murder, stating, 'I thought I could make it look like an accident and collect the insurance money to set my life right.' Unfortunately for him, his plan unraveled. The investigation is still ongoing.
