Humayun Kabir's Stance on BJP Alliance

Humayun Kabir, the leader of the Aam Janata Udayan Party (AJUP), firmly rejected any possibility of forming an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the recent election results in West Bengal. Kabir stated that there is no question of an alliance with the BJP. With Suvendu Adhikari winning both seats, he will have to vacate one, and a by-election should be held promptly for that seat. 'We will sit in the opposition. What is the need for an alliance?' he remarked, emphasizing that Adhikari has won by a majority. He added, 'As Modi ji says, 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas,' if that is the case, I have no objections.'

Political Critique of Opposition Leaders

Kabir also launched a sharp political critique in response to recent meetings among opposition leaders, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and the leadership of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He questioned the timing and purpose of these meetings, making pointed remarks about Mamata Banerjee. 'Where was Akhilesh Yadav during the two months of campaigning? He should have come to support Mamata Banerjee. Abhishek Banerjee visits Rahul Gandhi every morning for tea. So why did Rahul Gandhi field a candidate against Mamata Banerjee? Mamata Banerjee is also dishonest,' he stated.

Political Developments Post-Election

These comments come amid heightened political activity following the recent election results in Kolkata and preparations for forming a government in the state. Previously, Akhilesh Yadav met with TMC leaders, including Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, to discuss post-election developments and alleged electoral irregularities. Yadav accused the BJP of 'multi-layered mafia activities' during the elections and called for transparency in the electoral process, including the release of CCTV footage from polling stations.

Suvendu Adhikari's Election as BJP Leader

In recent developments, Suvendu Adhikari has been elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in West Bengal, paving the way for him to become the state's first BJP Chief Minister. This announcement was made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah after presiding over a party meeting in Kolkata as a central observer. Adhikari is expected to take the oath of office tomorrow, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
