Hubli Tigers Triumph Over Mysore Warriors in Maharaja Trophy T20 Clash
Captain Aneeshwar Gautam Leads Hubli Tigers to Victory
In a remarkable performance, Captain Aneeshwar Gautam scored an unbeaten half-century, guiding the Hubli Tigers to a convincing seven-wicket win against the defending champions, Mysore Warriors, during the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament.
Following a rainout in their initial match against Coastal Kings Mangaluru, the Tigers made a strong impression in their first completed game of the season. They successfully chased down a target of 162 runs at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar Ground on Monday, achieving a score of 162/3 with 15 balls remaining.
Hubli Tigers' Strong Start to the Chase
The innings began on a rocky note for the Tigers as Preethesh Ingle was dismissed on the second ball, caught by Lavish Kaushal without scoring. However, Mohammad Taha and Mayank Agarwal quickly stabilized the innings, aggressively targeting the Mysuru bowlers.
Taha was particularly punishing against any short or wide deliveries, showcasing an impressive range of attacking shots. Mysuru's captain, Vyshak Vijaykumar, had a challenging outing, giving away 47 runs in his four overs. The partnership between Taha and Agarwal yielded 49 runs in just 4.3 overs, setting a solid foundation for the chase.
Taha and Gautam Shine in the Chase
Agarwal scored a quick 19 runs off 11 balls, including three boundaries, before being dismissed. Taha, however, maintained his aggressive stance, reaching his half-century in just 31 balls with a massive six over midwicket that cleared the stadium. His entertaining innings of 57 runs off 38 balls, which included five fours and three sixes, set the stage for the Tigers' victory before he was out with 41 runs still needed.
Gautam then took charge, finishing with an impressive 60 runs off 41 balls, hitting two fours and four sixes. Abhinav Manohar contributed with an unbeaten 16, helping the Hubli Tigers secure a decisive win.
Mysore Warriors' Batting Struggles
Earlier in the match, the Mysore Warriors had a promising start but failed to capitalize on it. Contributions from L R Chethan (18), S U Karthik (35), Ritesh Bhatkal (46), and K P Karthikeya (27) provided some momentum, but none managed to convert their starts into significant scores.
After reaching 99/2 in the 11th over, the defending champions faced a dramatic collapse, losing their last eight wickets for just 62 runs. The lower order crumbled under pressure, leading to their all-out score of 161 in 19.2 overs. Hardik Raj and L R Kumar were instrumental with the ball, each taking three wickets to initiate the collapse and pave the way for Hubli Tigers' comfortable chase.
