How TPCODL's 'Gaan Chala' Initiative is Transforming Rural Electricity Access
Empowering Rural Communities with Electricity Services
Bhubaneswar: The TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a collaboration between Tata Power and the Odisha government, is enhancing its outreach in rural areas through the innovative 'Gaan Chala' program.
These village-level service camps, set up throughout its operational territory, serve as crucial points for providing electricity-related services directly to local residents.
So far, thousands of rural customers have benefited from these camps, where they can obtain new service connections, have their bills adjusted, and receive immediate answers to their inquiries.
This direct approach has simplified service delivery, minimizing the necessity for consumers to visit Customer Care Centres for help.
In addition to service provision, the initiative strongly promotes digital inclusion. Numerous rural customers have successfully signed up for TPCODL’s digital services, enabling them to pay bills online, lodge complaints, and get real-time updates on their services.
This transition is allowing rural households to access services more quickly, transparently, and conveniently.
The camps also include specialized counseling sessions aimed at raising awareness about the ongoing 'Bill Pay & Win' scheme.
These sessions motivate timely bill payments and emphasize the advantages and rewards of using digital payment methods, encouraging consumers to actively participate in the digital transformation.
Through 'Gaan Chala', TPCODL is not only addressing service deficiencies but also strengthening connections with rural communities by making electricity services more accessible, transparent, and customer-centric at the grassroots level.
