How Odisha's 'Shaktishree' App is Revolutionizing Student Safety and Support
Enhancing Student Safety in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education department of Odisha has urged all state-funded and aided universities and colleges to maximize student engagement with the 'Shaktishree' app, which is designed to enhance student safety, address grievances, and provide counseling services.
Recently introduced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, this mobile application aims to foster a safer, more responsive, and student-friendly environment in higher education across Odisha.
The app serves as a specialized digital support system for students, featuring various functionalities such as SOS assistance, safety check-ins, counseling support, grievance resolution, institutional updates, and emergency services.
According to officials, the primary goal of the app is to bolster communication and ensure prompt assistance for students in distress.
In a communication directed to registrars and principals, the higher education department indicated that students can register on the app using their SMAS ID along with their mobile number registered with SMAS.
All students enrolled in higher education institutions under the department's jurisdiction are eligible to utilize this application.
Institutions have been encouraged to promote awareness among students through notices, orientation sessions, classroom discussions, WhatsApp groups, and other effective channels to facilitate the download and registration process.
