Iranian Embassy's Call for Humanitarian Support

New Delhi: The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi has expressed appreciation for the Indian public's willingness to assist Iranians impacted by the ongoing conflict. However, they have encountered technical issues that hinder the acceptance of online donations.

In a message shared on X, the embassy conveyed gratitude to 'our dear Indian brothers and sisters for their ongoing support' while acknowledging the challenges faced with online fund transfers. The post stated, 'Due to some reported difficulties in transferring funds to the Embassy’s account, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dear Indian brothers and sisters for their continued support.'

The embassy advised potential donors to refrain from using GPay for the time being and recommended making cash donations directly at the embassy instead.

They stated, 'Cash donations may be made directly at the Embassy,' and expressed appreciation for the solidarity and patience shown by Indian supporters. Embassy representatives also mentioned that they are actively working to resolve the online transfer issues.

This appeal comes in light of rising tensions in West Asia, where military actions by Israel and the United States against Iranian targets have escalated. Iran has retaliated with attacks across the Gulf region, targeting U.S. and Israeli interests. As the conflict deepens, the humanitarian consequences have led citizens globally, including those in India, to seek avenues for providing assistance.

Just a day prior to this advisory, the embassy had shared its bank account information online after receiving numerous inquiries from Indian citizens eager to help. They provided details of their State Bank of India account and requested that donors send payment confirmations via WhatsApp if they chose to make electronic transfers.

While the embassy continues to facilitate donations, officials emphasized that due to ongoing technical difficulties, cash contributions remain the most dependable method for supporting relief efforts for Iranians affected by the conflict.

The embassy’s communication underscores both the eagerness of Indian citizens to assist during crises and the practical challenges of ensuring secure and timely delivery of humanitarian aid amidst banking and technological obstacles.

India and Iran share a rich history of cultural, economic, and diplomatic relations, with their partnership strengthened over time through collaboration in various sectors, including trade, energy, and regional development.
