In a significant escalation in the Middle East, the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels from Yemen have declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia. This announcement follows a recent exchange of fire between the two adversaries, marking the first such incident in several years. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree stated, "We declare a maritime embargo against the criminal Saudi enemy, effective immediately upon the issuance of this statement," emphasizing the principle of 'an eye for an eye.' He further warned that the blockade on Yemen's ports and the assault on the Sanaa airport would provoke a response. Saree expressed that the Yemeni people cannot tolerate this unjust siege and aggression without taking action, asserting their right to defend themselves using all available means.
