Horrific Murder for Insurance Money: Husband Kills Newlywed Wife

In a disturbing incident that could make anyone wary of marriage, a husband committed a heinous act against his newlywed wife. He murdered her and attempted to disguise the crime as a road accident, all for the sake of a 30 lakh rupee insurance claim. Let's delve into the details of this shocking case.

The incident took place in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, where the body of a woman was discovered by the roadside on September 27. The police were alerted and arrived at the scene to begin their investigation. Initially, they suspected it was a case of a road accident. The victim was identified as Sevanti Kumari, who lived with her husband Mukesh Kumar Mehta in the Sarouni village of the Padma police station area.

Murder for Insurance Money
According to Sanchet Kumar Dubey, the officer in charge of the Padma police station, 30-year-old Mukesh Kumar Mehta murdered his 23-year-old wife Sevanti Kumari on the night of October 9, just four months after their marriage. He intended to claim the 30 lakh rupee insurance payout by portraying the murder as an accident.

What’s alarming is that Mukesh had been planning this scheme for months. He had taken out a life insurance policy worth 30 lakh rupees in his wife's name and was waiting for the right moment to execute his plan.

The Day of the Incident
On the day of the crime, Mukesh lured his wife out under the pretense of a bike ride. During the ride, he struck Sevanti with a helmet and subsequently strangled her to death. He then discarded her body by the roadside and attempted to stage a motorcycle accident. To make the scene appear genuine, he inflicted minor injuries on himself and lay down on the road.

Unraveling the Truth
However, inconsistencies at the crime scene raised suspicions. There were no signs of a collision, nor any evidence of a vehicle involved. The autopsy confirmed that Sevanti had been strangled. This led the police to suspect Mukesh. Upon examining mobile records, they discovered several suspicious calls to Mukesh before and after the incident, including a conversation where he mentioned the insurance claim. This became a crucial piece of evidence.

Investigation Continues
During questioning, Mukesh confessed to the murder, stating, 'I thought I could get the insurance money by making it look like an accident, and my life would be set.' Unfortunately for him, his plan fell apart. The investigation is ongoing.
