Horrific Domestic Abuse Case in Uttar Pradesh: Pregnant Woman Assaulted Over Dowry Demand
Disturbing Incident of Domestic Violence
A shocking incident has emerged from Bhadohi district in Uttar Pradesh, where a husband allegedly assaulted his pregnant wife due to a dowry demand of 10 lakh rupees. Reports indicate that the husband had previously kicked her in the abdomen, leading to severe consequences.
Legal Action Taken Against the Accused
According to a senior police official, a complaint was filed by 29-year-old Aaradhana Shukla during a public hearing on Saturday. This led to the registration of a case against her husband, Abhinesh Shukla, her mother-in-law Geeta Devi, and brother-in-law Pradeep Shukla under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Dowry Prohibition Act at the Gopiganj police station.
Continuous Harassment by In-Laws
SP Abhinav Tyagi revealed that Aaradhana was married to Abhinesh on May 21, 2022. Despite receiving a substantial dowry, her husband and in-laws began demanding an additional 10 lakh rupees, subjecting her to ongoing harassment when their demands were not met.
Tragic Loss of Unborn Children
Tyagi further explained that when Aaradhana was eight months pregnant, her husband kicked her multiple times in the abdomen due to the unmet dowry demand, resulting in the tragic loss of her unborn child. Following this incident, she was sent back to her parental home for medical attention.
Repeated Incidents of Violence
The police report indicates that after some relatives intervened, Abhinesh took Aaradhana to Delhi, where he continued to live with his mother and brother. In July 2025, when Aaradhana was again pregnant, she faced further violence when her husband demanded the same dowry amount, leading to another brutal assault.
Threats to Life
SP Tyagi noted that despite Aaradhana's deteriorating condition, Abhinesh brought her back to Bhadohi on a motorcycle and assaulted her again at the railway station, threatening to kill her if she returned without the demanded money.
Police Investigation Underway
Aaradhana reported that after informing her family, they admitted her to a hospital, where she suffered another loss of her unborn child. The police are currently searching for the accused, as Aaradhana had previously sought help from the women's police station and Gopiganj police station in January, but no action was taken until now.
