Horrific Domestic Abuse Case in Uttar Pradesh: Pregnant Woman Assaulted Over Dowry Demand
Shocking Incident of Domestic Violence
In a disturbing incident from Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh, a husband has been accused of violently assaulting his pregnant wife over a dowry demand of 10 lakh rupees. Reports indicate that the husband has previously kicked his wife in the abdomen, leading to severe consequences.
Legal Action Taken Against the Accused
Following a complaint lodged by the victim, Aradhana Shukla, during a public hearing, police have registered a case against her husband, Abhinesh Shukla, along with his mother and brother, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
Continuous Harassment and Abuse
According to police officials, Aradhana, who married Abhinesh on May 21, 2022, faced ongoing harassment despite receiving a substantial dowry. Her husband and in-laws allegedly demanded an additional 10 lakh rupees, subjecting her to continuous abuse when their demands were not met.
Tragic Loss of Unborn Children
The police report reveals that when Aradhana was eight months pregnant, her husband assaulted her multiple times, resulting in the tragic loss of her unborn child. After the incident, she was sent back to her parental home for medical attention.
Previous Incidents of Violence
It was noted that Abhinesh had previously assaulted Aradhana during her first pregnancy. After some relatives intervened, he took her to Delhi, where he continued to exert control and abuse. In September 2025, while she was again pregnant, he assaulted her once more over the same dowry demand.
Threats and Continued Abuse
Despite her deteriorating condition, Abhinesh reportedly threatened Aradhana, warning her that if she returned without the demanded money, he would kill her. Following this, she was hospitalized again, but unfortunately, she lost another unborn child.
Police Investigation Underway
The police are actively searching for the accused following the registration of the case. Aradhana had previously sought help from local authorities but faced inaction, prompting her to escalate her complaint.
