Honda has recently filed a patent for an updated version of the Scoopy scooter, showcasing a modern design and advanced features. This new model, set for international markets, includes a refreshed front fascia, LED headlights, and a full LCD instrument cluster. While the engine specifications align with other popular models in India, the likelihood of its launch in the Indian market remains low, as Honda has patented many of its global products primarily for intellectual property protection. Overview of the Honda Scoopy's New Patent

Honda is keenly aware of the intensifying competition in the two-wheeler market. Over the years, the company has secured numerous patents for potential future models. While many brands file patents primarily to protect their brand names, some of these patents eventually lead to actual product launches. In line with this strategy, Honda has recently submitted a patent for a revamped version of the Honda Scoopy.

International Variant of Honda Scoopy

Originally patented in 2022, the latest iteration for 2025 features a refreshed front fascia and a circular LED headlight with daytime running lights (DRL). This new model will include a full LCD instrument panel, along with indicators for eco mode, fuel consumption, and service reminders. The international variant is powered by a 109.5 cc air-cooled engine, generating approximately 9 horsepower and a peak torque of 9.2 Nm, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

This engine is also utilized in smaller models like the Dio and Activa in India. Another variant, known as the Beat, is available internationally and shares this engine.

According to reports from a leading automotive publication, Honda has patented many of its global models in India mainly for intellectual property rights (IPR) reasons, indicating that these models are unlikely to be launched in the country. This includes models like the NPF125, CB190TR, and CG160, among others. Such practices are common to safeguard product names and designs, making it improbable for the Scoopy to debut in India. The Scoopy is currently available in Southeast Asian markets, including Indonesia and the Philippines.
