Hockey India President Files Police Complaint Against Federation Officials

Dilip Tirkey, the president of Hockey India and a former captain of the national team, has lodged a police complaint with the Delhi Police against four officials from the federation. The allegations include criminal breach of trust, theft, criminal conspiracy, endangerment of life, and wrongful abandonment.

The complaint, dated September 24 and directed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in South Delhi, requests the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under applicable laws and the immediate recovery of what Tirkey claims are stolen assets and documents. The accused named in the complaint are R.K. Srivastava, the former Director General of Hockey India, Finance Manager Subodh Kumar, Director Bhushan Kumar, and driver Harminder Singh.

Tirkey asserts that an official vehicle assigned to him during his visit to New Delhi on September 22 was taken back, leaving behind his personal items. He specifically mentions the absence of essential medicines and other belongings, urging for their prompt recovery. The complaint emphasizes the need for immediate action regarding the alleged theft and abandonment.

The complaint has been acknowledged by the Delhi Police, although there has been no confirmation regarding the registration of an FIR at this point. This action by Tirkey occurs amidst ongoing internal conflicts within Hockey India, particularly involving senior officials.

Background of the Dispute

Previously, Tirkey had taken measures against Srivastava in his role as Hockey India president, which included revoking his powers as Director General and issuing a show-cause notice. The current complaint reiterates the issues surrounding Srivastava, Kumar, Bhushan, and Harminder in relation to Tirkey's allegations.
