East Bengal Women Achieve Milestone with 12-0 Triumph

On August 20, 2026, East Bengal FC celebrated their second consecutive win by defeating Rovers FC (Guam) with an astounding score of 12-0 during the AFC Women's Champions League 2026-27 Preliminary Stage held at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

This remarkable victory marks a historic moment, as it is the largest win recorded by any Indian club in an Asian tournament, surpassing the previous record of 9-0 set by East Bengal's men's team against Club Valencia (Maldives) in the 1985-86 Asian Club Championship, as reported by AFC Media. With this win, East Bengal is now just one victory away from advancing to the group stage, facing Malaysia's Sabah FA next on Sunday.

An Unprecedented Performance

After a commanding 4-0 win against Rajshahi Stars FC (Bangladesh) in their opening match, East Bengal asserted their dominance early in the game. They took the lead in the sixth minute when Priyangka Devi Naorem's shot from just outside the box struck the left post and found its way into the net.

In the 15th minute, Rovers goalkeeper Jae Almonte made a mistake by spilling a shot from Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam, allowing Astam Oraon to capitalize on the rebound and score.

East Bengal continued their offensive, with Priyangka adding another goal seven minutes later by skillfully lifting the ball over the goalkeeper after breaking into the box.

The second half saw East Bengal maintain their momentum, with Sulanjana Raul dribbling into the box in the 48th minute. Her cross was deflected to Olivia Anokye, who scored from close range.

Just a minute later, Soumya Guguloth delivered a precise cross to Abigail Antwi, who headed in the fifth goal for East Bengal.

In the 51st minute, Jae was forced to make another save, parrying Shilky Devi Hemam's curling shot into the path of Sulanjana, who calmly converted the rebound.

Shilky then scored in the 56th minute with a powerful shot from just outside the box, hitting the top left corner.

Olivia netted her second goal in the 58th minute with a low shot from inside the box, followed by Abena Opoku's powerful strike in the 64th minute.
