Himayani Puri Files Defamation Suit Against False Allegations Linked to Jeffrey Epstein
Himayani Puri Takes Legal Action Against Defamatory Claims
Himayani Puri, daughter of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging what she describes as "false and malicious" reports and social media posts. These allegations have linked her to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. In her defamation lawsuit, Puri is seeking action against various social media platforms and accounts accused of disseminating harmful content about her.
The petition requests the Delhi High Court to order platforms like X, Google, Meta, and LinkedIn to remove the false and defamatory posts.
Additionally, Puri is demanding ₹10 crore in damages and has asked the court to instruct the removal of alleged defamatory content from unidentified individuals, referred to as 'John Doe' or 'Ashok Kumar'. According to the lawsuit, starting from February 22, 2026, several social media entities reportedly began spreading claims that she had direct or indirect business, financial, personal, or other network connections with Epstein and/or his criminal activities.
The posts and reports also alleged that Real Partners LLC, where Puri was employed, received funds or financial benefits from Epstein or his associates. Some claims suggested that Robert Millard conspired with Puri to orchestrate the collapse of Lehman Brothers.
The lawsuit states that defendants numbered 1 to 14, along with several unidentified individuals, have strategically spread these baseless allegations through sensational and misleading formats, including edited videos, misleading captions, and manipulated thumbnails, aiming to incite public outrage, go viral digitally, and ultimately damage the plaintiff's reputation.
The petition further asserts that Puri is being targeted in a planned and motivated manner to defame her both in India and globally.
It is noted in the petition that Hardeep Singh Puri is a senior member of the Union Cabinet, which is why his daughter, a highly skilled and self-sufficient professional, is facing such malicious attacks. The hearing for this case is expected to take place on Tuesday or Wednesday at the Delhi High Court.
