Himanta Biswa Sarma Takes Oath Again

On May 12, BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in for a second consecutive term as the Chief Minister of Assam. The oath was administered by Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya in the Khanapara area of Guwahati, specifically at the Veterinary Field.

The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Sarbananda Sonowal, Pabitra Margherita, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, along with BJP President Nitin Naveen.

A Symbol of NDA's Third Consecutive Government

This event marks the formation of the NDA government for the third consecutive time in the state, which first came to power in 2016 under the leadership of Sarbananda Sonowal. Sarma's mother Mrinalini Devi, wife Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, son Nandil Biswa Sarma, and daughter Sukanya Sarma were also present at the ceremony.

Sarma's Historic Achievement

At 57, Sarma becomes the first non-Congress leader to serve as Chief Minister for two consecutive terms in Assam. In the recent assembly elections, the NDA coalition led by the BJP secured a significant two-thirds majority, winning 82 seats in the 126-member assembly, while its allies, the Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), each won 10 seats.

NDA's Hat-Trick in Assam

The oath-taking ceremony symbolizes the NDA's third consecutive government formation in the state. The coalition first came to power in 2016 under Sarbananda Sonowal's leadership, and in the recent assembly elections, the NDA achieved a two-thirds majority in the 126-member house.

Commitment to Development and Prosperity

Following his second term as Chief Minister, Sarma faces the challenge of making Assam a leading economic hub in the Northeast and further strengthening peace and order. Prime Minister Modi congratulated him and expressed hope that under Sarma's leadership, Assam would reach new heights of development.
