Himachal Pradesh's Nurpur Police Intensify Crackdown on Drug Trafficking
Strict Measures Against Drug Traffickers

In alignment with the Himachal Pradesh Government's commitment to a "Zero Tolerance Against Drugs" initiative, the Nurpur Police have ramped up their efforts against drug traffickers and the seizure of illegally obtained properties.
On May 13, 2026, with the assistance of local authorities, police dismantled an unauthorized structure owned by Sukhdev, son of Gurdial Chand, a resident of Ward No. 09, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra (H.P.), which was illegally erected on land designated for a government temple. Officials reported that Sukhdev has a history of drug trafficking, with several cases filed against him under the NDPS Act.
Previous Significant Action: On September 21, 2025, the Nurpur Police filed FIR No. 120/25 at the Damtal Police Station, invoking Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. This operation led to the arrest of three individuals and the confiscation of 22.65 grams of heroin, gold, silver, a digital weighing scale, and ₹4.70 lakh in cash. A financial probe revealed assets worth ₹18.08 lakh belonging to Lovjeet Kumar, also known as Labba from Bhadroya, which were subsequently seized and validated by authorities in New Delhi.
Notable Seizures: To date, the Nurpur Police have conducted financial investigations in 16 cases, leading to the confiscation of movable and immovable assets valued at over ₹26.63 crore, marking the highest total in Himachal Pradesh.
Ongoing Commitment: The Nurpur Police have reiterated their dedication to pursuing stringent actions against drug cartels and criminal elements, with the goal of safeguarding the youth from substance abuse and ensuring societal peace and order. The Himachal Pradesh Government is steadfast in its resolve to implement rigorous measures against drug traffickers and the illicit assets generated from narcotics.
