Shimla: A total of thirteen officials from the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress have been suspended for not attending the 'Vote Chori' rally held at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1, an event called by senior Congress figure Rahul Gandhi.
The suspension, enacted by the leadership of the Indian Youth Congress, affects two vice-presidents, eight general secretaries, and three secretaries, and will remain in effect until further notice.
An official communication dated November 2, 2026, was released by Aryan Chauhan, General Secretary (Organisation) of the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress. The notice emphasized that the absence of these officials from the Delhi event was taken seriously, highlighting the importance of discipline and active participation in significant party events.
Among those suspended are state vice-presidents Amala Kashyap and Anu Kumari Maratha.
The eight general secretaries facing suspension include Sahil Thakur, Ajay Thakur, Ravinder Rao, Sachin Thakur, Manoj Kumar, Pooja Thakur, Tajinder Kumar, and Ankur Sharma. The three secretaries affected are Yashpal, Arjun Singh, and Baldev Sintian.
Copies of the suspension notice have been forwarded to Shesh Narayan Ojha, General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and in charge of Himachal Pradesh, as well as Jyotish HM, IYC Secretary and co-in-charge. Additionally, state Youth Congress president Chhattar Singh Thakur and working president Akhil Agnihotri have been notified.
This disciplinary measure coincides with similar actions in Haryana, where ten Youth Congress members were suspended on November 1 for not attending the same rally.
This is not the first time this year that disciplinary measures have been taken within the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress. In September, fifteen officials from Kangra district, including ten Assembly constituency presidents and five block presidents, were suspended for their absence from a state executive meeting and for not engaging actively in organizational activities.
The recent suspensions reflect a stricter stance by the Youth Congress leadership regarding organizational discipline, particularly concerning attendance at events organized by the party's central leadership. No immediate comments have been received from the suspended officials.
