Dharamshala: The Meteorological Department has announced that Himachal Pradesh will experience clear weather for the next four days. While this may encourage outdoor activities, it is also expected to lead to a rise in temperatures, particularly in the plains where heatwave conditions could intensify. Currently, temperatures in seven towns across the state have surpassed 35°C, with Una recording the highest at a sweltering 39.2°C.
Rain Expected from June 12
The MeT Department predicts clear skies until June 11 throughout Himachal Pradesh. Consequently, high-altitude areas, which have been cooler than usual due to recent rainfall, are likely to see temperatures increase by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
A western disturbance is anticipated to become active on June 12, bringing light rain to the higher-altitude regions. By June 13, this disturbance is expected to strengthen, resulting in moderate rainfall in the mid and high hills of the state.
Despite the clear weather over the past three days, the first week of June saw above-normal rainfall, with Himachal receiving 19 mm of rain from June 1 to 7, which is 45% higher than the average of 13.1 mm for this period.
While the upcoming dry spell may provide temporary relief for tourists and local travel, it could also increase heat stress in lower regions, according to a weather analyst. Authorities have advised residents in the plains to take necessary precautions against heat-related health issues.
