Himachal Pradesh Sees Employment Surge Under Modi Government, Claims BJP Leader
Significant Employment Growth in Himachal Pradesh
BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal announced today that the Modi administration has successfully doubled employment opportunities in Himachal Pradesh, with mandays increasing from 16.52 lakh to 32.6 lakh. He attributed this progress to the Centre's newly introduced Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) – VB–G RAM G Act, 2025, which he termed a groundbreaking initiative linking job creation with rural advancement.
VB–G RAM G: Transforming Rural Employment
During a press briefing, Dr. Bindal explained that the recently enacted scheme surpasses mere job provision by establishing a framework focused on development. In contrast to MGNREGA, which guarantees 100 days of work but averages only 50.4 days, the VB–G RAM G guarantees 125 days of legally mandated employment directly associated with village development initiatives.
Innovative and Transparent Implementation
Dr. Bindal emphasized that the initiative is entirely technology-driven, featuring biometric attendance, digital oversight, semi-annual evaluations, and timely payments. Should there be any delays in employment or wages, beneficiaries will receive compensation, ensuring a high level of accountability.
Enhanced Funding for Himachal Pradesh
He refuted Congress's claims of confusion regarding funding, clarifying that states like Himachal will enjoy a favorable 90:10 funding ratio from the Centre, compared to the 60:40 ratio applicable to other regions.
Comparative Analysis: NDA vs UPA
- UPA (2006–2014): ₹2.13 lakh crore spent, generating 1,660 million mandays and completing 153 lakh works.
- NDA (2014–2025): ₹8.53 lakh crore spent, resulting in 3,210 million mandays and 862 lakh works completed.
Dr. Bindal stated, “In Himachal, employment has doubled under the Modi government,” noting that the new scheme includes a provision of ₹1.5 lakh crore, significantly higher than previous allocations.
Key Priorities of the Scheme
- Rural infrastructure
- Water conservation
- Environmental protection
- Rural livelihoods
He also mentioned that administrative expenses have been increased from 6% to 9% to enhance monitoring and auditing processes.
Political Implications
Dr. Bindal accused the Congress party of misleading the public by concentrating on name changes, asserting that renaming initiatives has been a common practice across various administrations. He emphasized, “The real issue is not the name, but the results and development.”
Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047
In conclusion, Dr. Bindal stated that the scheme aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He cautioned that if the state government fails to contribute its 10% share, it would expose an “anti-rural and anti-poor mindset.” He affirmed that the BJP intends to promote the scheme to every household in Himachal Pradesh.
