Himachal Pradesh is gearing up to make a significant impact at the upcoming 8th National Savate Championship, with a contingent of 50 athletes set to travel to Chandigarh on October 5, 2025. The event will be hosted at the Sports Complex in Sector 56, where participants will demonstrate their skills and tenacity.

The team selection was completed on July 27, 2025, and since that date, the athletes have been engaged in intensive training to ensure they are well-prepared for the national competition.

Pankaj Kumar will lead the Himachal team as captain, while Inder Kumar takes on the role of team manager. The coaching staff includes Amar Chand Walia, Rishav Sharma, Harish Kumar, and Roma, who will assist in guiding the athletes throughout the championship.

A notable aspect of the team's preparation is the leadership of Santoshi Sharma, the general secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Savate Association. As a former international competitor and the current coach of the Indian Savate team, she has been instrumental in the squad's training. She organized a comprehensive one-month coaching camp at the historic Paddal Stadium in Mandi to ensure the athletes are fully prepared for competition.

This championship is a source of pride and enthusiasm for the sports community in Himachal Pradesh. There are high hopes that the athletes will compete with discipline, spirit, and determination, aiming to bring honor to both the state and the nation.
