Himachal Pradesh Hosts Thrilling State-Level Swimming Championship
Inauguration of the Swimming Championship
Shimla - The Himachal Pradesh Swimming Association has officially launched the third State-Level Swimming Championship at The Lawrence School in Sanawar. Approximately 250 swimmers from various districts across the state participated in this exciting event.
Dignitaries at the Event
The event was led by Ishan Akhtar, the State Secretary of the Association. Vinay Dhiman, the Deputy Director of Tourism & Civil Aviation for Himachal Pradesh, attended as the Chief Guest, while Ruchi Pradhan Dutta, Principal of The Lawrence School, served as the Special Guest. In a traditional gesture, both guests received a Himachali cap, shawl, and a memento from the organizers.
Encouragement for Young Athletes
During his address to the young competitors, Chief Guest Vinay Dhiman stressed that success in sports demands more than just talent. He stated, “A good player needs the right mindset and leadership qualities along with proficiency in the game,” urging the youth to strive for excellence and leverage their sports achievements for opportunities in government roles.
Competition Categories and Events
Ishan Akhtar, the State Secretary, noted that the championship includes six categories, featuring events in freestyle, backstroke, butterfly stroke, and breaststroke, with distances ranging from 25m to 800m.
Technical Oversight
A team of technical officials, including Diksha Sharma, Upasana Verma, Shoaib Khan, Lata Thakur, Narvada Sharma, Shivani Thakur, Ekla Chauhan, and Poonam Thakur, were present to ensure the smooth conduct of the championship.

This championship not only highlights the swimming prowess of Himachal Pradesh but also emphasizes the significance of discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship among the youth.
