Governor Discusses Anti-Drug Campaign with Foundation Delegation
SHIMLA: A group from the Idea of Bharat Foundation met with Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan in Shimla on Monday to share insights from their recent anti-drug initiative and explore future outreach strategies.
Rahul Sharma, the president of the Foundation, led the delegation and informed the Governor about a comprehensive awareness campaign that took place in rural areas, particularly in the Nurpur region, during May and June.
The campaign, themed “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India), aimed to engage youth, parents, and local panchayats in a united effort against substance abuse.
Sharma presented a thorough report and memorandum to the Governor, detailing the campaign's strategies, outreach efforts, and the impact on community engagement.
Governor Shukla praised the initiative, calling it a significant move towards social reform. He provided suggestions to enhance the campaign and expressed his willingness to support its expansion throughout the state.
“Combating drug abuse necessitates collaborative efforts from civil society, institutions, and government entities. Initiatives like this should be encouraged,” the Governor remarked.
The Foundation has been actively addressing various social challenges, focusing on public awareness and community-driven solutions. It aims to persist in its mission to foster a drug-free Himachal Pradesh. Other delegation members included Captain Daler Singh Pathania, Prem Sharma, and Advocate Janak Raj.
