Recognition for Kabaddi Champions
On Monday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that three players from Himachal Pradesh, Pushpa Rana, Jyoti Thakur, and Bhawna Thakur, who secured a gold medal in Kabaddi at the Asian Games, will each receive a minimum prize of Rs 1 crore from the state government.
The Chief Minister expressed his congratulations to the athletes for their remarkable success and honored them with traditional Himachali caps and shawls. He mentioned that a special ceremony would be organized soon to formally recognize their achievements and present the promised prize money.
Job Opportunities for Gold Medalists
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also stated that the three athletes would be offered government jobs. For those who prefer not to join the Police Department, positions in the Youth Services and Sports Department will be available, allowing them to continue their sports careers while contributing to the state's sports development.
Improvements in Sports Policy
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state government has made significant improvements to its sports policy, particularly in increasing prize money. He emphasized the importance of enhancing sports infrastructure throughout Himachal Pradesh.
Additionally, he announced that Renuka Thakur, a player on the Indian women's cricket team, would also receive Rs 1 crore from the state government in acknowledgment of her accomplishments.
