The administration in Himachal Pradesh is facing significant backlash following its announcement to postpone salary payments for both employees and officers for a period of six months. Advocate Vishw Chakshu, co-incharge of the BJP state media, has criticized this move as a clear indication of the Sukhu-led government's failure, suggesting it is an attempt to shift the blame for financial mismanagement onto the workforce.
Chakshu pointed out that the government, which had made grand promises during the election campaign, is now struggling to provide timely salaries to its employees, a situation he finds alarming. He raised concerns about the reasons behind this delay in salary payments, asserting that it highlights poor economic strategies and ineffective governance.
He emphasized that this decision will have dire consequences for numerous families, especially as inflation continues to rise, potentially leading to a financial crisis for many employees. Furthermore, he warned that there is a risk that the postponed salaries may not be fully paid later, referencing previous instances where arrears and dearness allowance (DA) payments were not honored.
Chakshu urged the government to promptly reassess its decision, ensure that salaries are paid on time, and disclose the true financial status of the state.
