Himachal Pradesh Government Approves 980 Compassionate Appointments

In a significant move under the Vyavastha Parivartan initiative, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the state has resolved 980 pending cases for compassionate appointments, offering much-needed relief to the families of deceased government employees.
Key Highlights
- 980 appointments finalized from October 1 to December 31, 2025.
- 366 Class-III JOA (IT) and 614 Class-IV MTWs have been appointed.
- Jal Shakti Department led with 419 appointments (100 JOA, 319 MTWs).
- PWD followed with 175 appointments (15 JOA, 160 MTWs).
- Education Department received 128 appointments (108 JOA, 20 MTWs).
The Chief Minister remarked, “This initiative is rooted in compassion, aimed at providing immediate financial assistance and restoring dignity to families who have endured long periods of uncertainty and pain, waiting for the justice they deserve.”
Department-Wise Breakdown
- Home Department: 75 appointments (52 Police, 23 Home Guards).
- Health & Family Welfare: 34 appointments (23 Class III, 11 MTWs).
- Ayush: 14 appointments (6 Class III, 8 MTWs).
- Agriculture: 9 MTWs.
- Animal Husbandry: 56 appointments (11 JOA, 45 MTWs).
- Horticulture: 5 appointments.
- Prisons: 4 appointments.
- Fire Services: 23 appointments (19 Class III, 4 MTWs).
- Rural Development: 6 appointments.
- Revenue: 14 appointments.
- Social Justice & Empowerment (WCD): 4 appointments.
- Urban Development: 20 appointments.
- HPTDC: 13 appointments (12 MTWs, 1 Class III).
- Tribal Development: 1 appointment.
- Prosecution: 1 appointment.
- HRTC: 2 appointments.
CM’s Remarks
The Chief Minister criticized the previous administration for overlooking compassionate appointment cases, which left many families in distress. He reiterated his government's commitment to rectify these past oversights and ensure timely support, dignity, and social security for deserving families.
He concluded, “This achievement is not merely administrative; it represents our promise to stand with the common man during their times of grief. Our government is dedicated to restoring the dignity of those who have served the state.”
