Himachal Pradesh Ensures Fair Selection of BPL Families for Welfare Schemes

During a recent event, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, emphasized the government's dedication to transparency and fairness in selecting Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. This initiative aims to ensure that welfare programs effectively reach those who are truly in need.
Speaking on the third day of an interaction program with families identified as BPL at Chinar Palace, Banikhet, Pathania noted that these discussions are crucial for recognizing eligible families living in poverty, allowing them to access various government support initiatives.
According to the latest survey, approximately 50,000 families in the Chamba district have been classified under the BPL category. This identification process was meticulously conducted in eight stages to guarantee impartiality, focusing solely on the needs of the families.
Pathania also highlighted the government's compassionate approach in providing aid to families affected by disasters, ensuring assistance is offered from state resources without any political favoritism.
He mentioned that through the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana, women from BPL families will receive a monthly financial aid of ₹1,500, stressing that even modest support can significantly impact impoverished households.
Furthermore, he pointed out the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana, which guarantees comprehensive care, education, housing, and future security for orphaned children, marking a pioneering effort unmatched by any other state in India.
The Speaker urged representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions to actively engage with eligible beneficiaries to connect them with welfare schemes, ensuring they receive the benefits intended for them. He also addressed public grievances, resolving many issues immediately.
Earlier, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Anil Bhardwaj welcomed the Speaker, while Block Development Officer Anil Gurada provided key developmental insights from the Bhatiyat block.
Notable attendees included Chela Krishan Chand from the State Forest Corporation Board, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sher Singh, Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Kuldeep Jamwal, and Executive Engineers Pankaj Rathore, Rakesh Thakur, Narendra Chaudhary, Devendra Rana, along with representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Participating Gram Panchayats: Samleu, Sundli, Mel, Moranu, Jiyunta, Sherpur, Tappar, Nagli, Chuhan, Bathri, Maluda, Ughral, Bagdhar, Dhalog, Baily, Manola, Ruliyani, Padharotu, Osal, and Devidera.
