Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Seeks Central Support for Health Infrastructure
Meeting with Union Health Minister
SHIMLA: On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held discussions with Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda in New Delhi, aiming to secure federal assistance to enhance health infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister outlined the state's needs for effectively implementing initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission. He emphasized the necessity of bolstering health facilities throughout the region.
Sukhu made a specific appeal for the creation of a dedicated cancer care center within the state and the introduction of cutting-edge medical technologies and modern equipment in government hospitals to improve patient care.
Additionally, he requested a relaxation of eligibility criteria for various central schemes and urged for the prompt release of outstanding funds. Union Health Minister JP Nadda reassured the Chief Minister that the interests of Himachal Pradesh would be prioritized and that the Centre would provide all necessary support.
Accompanying the Chief Minister during this important meeting were Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Adviser Ram Subhag Singh, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty, and Secretary Rakesh Kanwar.
