Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Thakur Sukhu has called for the integration of more online services in the healthcare sector to enhance public convenience. During a recent meeting, he announced the formation of a committee to oversee the implementation of these digital initiatives, which aim to improve service quality and efficiency. The Chief Minister emphasized that these changes would not only save time and resources but also foster transparency and accountability in healthcare delivery. Additionally, he highlighted the ongoing efforts to strengthen the state's health infrastructure with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This initiative is expected to significantly impact the health services provided to the citizens.

Push for Digital Health Services in Himachal Pradesh

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh emphasized the need to integrate more online services into the healthcare system for the convenience of the public. During a review meeting with senior officials from the health department, the National Health Mission, and the Directorate of Medical Education, he announced the formation of a committee led by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil to implement these changes. This committee is expected to submit its report within ten days.


The Chief Minister highlighted that these online services would not only save time and resources but also enhance the quality of healthcare provided. He also took the lead in developing an online patient registration system across various health institutions and hospitals. Stressing the importance of the Himcare scheme, he mentioned that its mapping should extend to the panchayat level and include patient treatment data. Additionally, he directed the integration of the Abha card with the Him Family portal.


Sukhu noted that the introduction of digital services would increase transparency and accountability, making the monitoring of services, maintenance of online records, and complaint resolution mechanisms more effective. He stated that online health services would contribute to better planning and more efficient administration, while also fostering innovation and supporting the goal of creating healthier citizens and a stronger state.


Furthermore, he mentioned that the state's health infrastructure is being strengthened with the assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to enhance healthcare services.
