In a recent visit to the Bhatiyat constituency, Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania assessed the damage caused by landslides, urging the Public Works Department (PWD) to devise long-term solutions for the affected roadways.
Pathania's tour included significant locations such as Gahar Da Ghatu on the Patka–Dalhousie road and Tikkar Gala Ghar along the Nurpur–Sanjhi–Nala–Lahdu–Tunnu Hatti route. He commended the PWD for their prompt restoration efforts, highlighting the challenges faced after heavy rains on July 21–22, which resulted in nearly 200 meters of road being washed away at Tikkar Gala Ghar. The department's dedication enabled the reopening of this crucial route despite the adverse conditions.
The Speaker called for the creation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) under the HPDRRP scheme for landslide-prone areas, including Paniyala, Tikkar Gala, and Shahpur–Singhuta–Chuwari road, to ensure future stability and consistent traffic flow.
Additionally, Pathania engaged with local residents impacted by the landslides, addressing their concerns and instructing departmental officials to take appropriate measures.
Accompanying him during the inspection were senior officials such as Superintending Engineer Jeet Singh Thakur (PWD), Executive Engineer Narendra Chaudhary (PWD), Executive Engineer Rakesh Thakur (Jal Shakti Department), and Block Development Officer Anil Gurada.
