Concerns Over Healthcare Staffing in Himachal Pradesh

Dr. Jankaraj, the MLA for Bharmour-Pangi and a well-known neurosurgeon, has voiced strong criticism against the Himachal Pradesh government, claiming that the healthcare system is deteriorating due to a significant lack of specialist doctors at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda.
He raised serious concerns regarding the Cardiology Department, emphasizing that if the sole active cardiologist is reassigned, it would leave thousands of patients without necessary medical care. He questioned how critically ill patients would receive prompt treatment in such a scenario.
Dr. Jankaraj also pointed out that numerous specialist doctor positions in key health facilities across the state have been unfilled for an extended period, yet the government has not taken adequate measures to address this issue. Consequently, patients are missing out on timely medical attention and expert advice.
“Rather than enhancing healthcare services, departments that are already facing a shortage of specialists are being further compromised. Is it not a priority for the government to fill these vacant doctor positions?” Dr. Jankaraj questioned.
The MLA has called for the immediate filling of all vacant specialist doctor roles at Tanda Medical College, particularly in critical areas like cardiology. He emphasized that the residents of Himachal Pradesh deserve superior healthcare services and urged the government to clarify its position on this urgent matter.
