Among the honorees, Dr. Prem Lal Gautam, Dr. O.P. Sharma, and Sneh Lata have previously been recognized nationally, including receiving the Padma Shri for their remarkable contributions.
Dr. Prem Lal Gautam: A Leader in Agricultural Innovation
Dr. Prem Lal Gautam, an esteemed agricultural scientist from Bilaspur, was awarded the Padma Shri in 2026 for his significant advancements in agricultural research, biodiversity preservation, and the creation of enhanced crop varieties like wheat, soybean, and millet. His efforts have greatly aided farmers and promoted sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. O.P. Sharma: A Literary Luminary
Dr. O.P. Sharma, a senior writer from Hamirpur district, has penned 12 books, with his acclaimed work “Dev Bhoomi Himachal” focusing on the state's temples. A former official from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, he has made invaluable contributions to literature and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Sneh Lata: Championing Grassroots Sports
From Mor Singhi in Bilaspur, handball coach Sneh Lata has been acknowledged for her outstanding efforts in promoting sports at the grassroots level. She transformed a rocky area into a training facility and has offered free coaching to over 250 children, with more than 80 of her students representing India in handball, a remarkable achievement for the community.
Dr. Brij Sharma: Innovator in Healthcare
Dr. Brij Sharma, Principal of Atal Super Speciality Institute of Medical Sciences Chamiyana and a Ghumarwin native, is being honored for his impactful contributions to healthcare. He was instrumental in launching the first robotic surgery service in Himachal Pradesh at his institute. Previously, he received recognition as the Best DM Resident by the Prime Minister in 2009 during his time at AIIMS Delhi for his excellence in patient care. His research in the Spiti Valley also revealed a high incidence of Hepatitis B and C, leading to enhanced screening and awareness initiatives in the area.
