High-Speed Rail Connectivity to Reduce Travel Time Between Delhi and Noida Airport
Significant Travel Time Reduction Announced
On Thursday, Nand Gopal Gupta, the Minister for Industrial Development in Uttar Pradesh, revealed that the proposed high-speed rail connectivity plan could cut travel time between Delhi and the upcoming Noida International Airport to just 21 minutes. During a review meeting at the PICUP building regarding projects by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the minister stated that the state government has approved the detailed project report (DPR) for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) connecting Delhi to Jewar Airport, which has now been forwarded to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Future Connectivity Enhancements
According to a statement, the DPR also includes provisions to link the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor to the airport terminal via a dedicated station, enabling connectivity from Delhi in approximately 21 minutes in the future.
Yamuna Expressway to Emerge as a Major Cargo Hub
The minister emphasized that following the inauguration of Jewar Airport, the entire Yamuna Expressway area is poised to become a significant cargo hub. He urged officials to enhance work culture, adopt corporate practices, and ensure better maintenance and repair of damaged roads along the expressway. The statement highlighted that the Yamuna Expressway connects with several major expressways, including Agra-Lucknow, Bundelkhand, Purvanchal, Delhi-Mumbai, and Ganga Expressways, making the region strategically important for connectivity.
Streamlining Land Acquisition Processes
Gupta instructed officials to ensure prompt online payments for land acquisition compensation to farmers and to establish a system that prevents people from having to navigate various offices for maps and land-related no-objection certificates.
Future Urban Development Plans
He also directed officials to make land-related information available online and to provide training in artificial intelligence to meet future needs. During the meeting, officials informed the minister that a master plan is being developed for Hathras, where an urban township will be established. Additionally, they mentioned plans to extend the Yamuna Expressway to Agra after Hathras and to develop an urban township on 4,700 acres of land in the Tapal-Bajna area.
