Major Arrests in Corruption Investigation


New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Branch has apprehended six individuals, including former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain and Udit Prakash Rai, the ex-CEO of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), in relation to a corruption scandal tied to the tendering process for sewage treatment plant projects, as confirmed by an official on Tuesday.


The other individuals taken into custody include Ankit Srivastava, a previous contractual consultant for the DJB, along with private citizens Nagendra Yadav, Raja Kumar Kurra, and Pankaj Verma, according to a statement from the ACB.


This investigation was initiated on May 11, 2024, following a complaint from the Directorate of Vigilance, which highlighted significant irregularities, manipulation of tender specifications, and a criminal conspiracy concerning the tendering process for the enhancement and modernization of sewage treatment facilities managed by the DJB.
