High-Level Meeting on Aviation Security Scheduled After Air India Crash

Upcoming Meeting on Civil Aviation Security
New Delhi, June 16: A significant meeting focused on civil aviation security is scheduled for June 17, led by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, following the recent Air India plane crash, as reported by sources on Monday.
This meeting will convene key officials, including the Civil Aviation Secretary, a representative from the Gujarat government, officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, and other essential agencies to evaluate the incident and review security measures within the aviation sector.
Earlier today, a team from Boeing, along with representatives from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), arrived in Ahmedabad to examine the crash site of the Air India aircraft.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the factors that contributed to the tragic event that occurred on June 12.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was bound for London, crashed into a hostel complex shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, resulting in the deaths of 241 passengers and crew members, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
Earlier today, a UK expert who visited the crash site in Ahmedabad stated, “Perhaps we will be able to provide more information later… What we observed is consistent with what you can see from here.”
Meanwhile, the Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad's Civil Hospital reported on Monday that DNA matching for the victims of the Air India crash has reached 92, corresponding to 87 individuals due to some duplication.
Dr. Rajnish Patel informed the media that 47 bodies have been sent to various districts so far.
“Of the remains brought to Civil Hospital, DNA matching for 92 has been completed, with 87 individuals identified due to duplication. We have dispatched 47 bodies to Kheda, Ahmedabad, Kota, Mahesana, Bharuch, Vadodara, Aravalli, Anand, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mahisagar, and Bhavnagar,” Dr. Patel stated.
