Helicopter Incident in Khotang District


Kathmandu: A helicopter encountered a crash while attempting to land in Eastern Nepal on Wednesday afternoon. The aircraft was making its way from Kathmandu to Khotang district when it was just a few inches from the ground. Reports indicate that one individual sustained injuries during the incident. The helicopter, operated by Air Dynasty, was transporting a deceased person.


According to Rekha Kandel, the Chief District Officer of Khotang District, "The helicopter crashed while landing in a field. It had flown in from Kathmandu carrying a dead body. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities among the living passengers. Further details are forthcoming." The crash was captured on video, which has since circulated online, showing the pilot losing control before the helicopter went down, resulting in a significant dust cloud at the crash site. The helicopter was left in ruins following the incident.


Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to initiate a rescue operation, and the injured individual was transported to a medical facility for care.

The helicopter, marked with the registration number 9N-ASQ, was reported to have five passengers on board at the time of the crash, which occurred around 11:51 AM in Khotang. The helicopter company confirmed, "One passenger has been injured, while the pilot and other passengers are unharmed. Another helicopter, registered as 9N-ANA, has been dispatched to assist the injured passenger." Initial investigations suggest that the crash may have been caused by strong winds or dust accumulation during the landing process.
