New Delhi. The monsoon has picked up pace once again in the capital and the National Capital Region (NCR). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in the coming hours. Due to the continuous rain, several low-lying areas may experience flooding, potentially disrupting daily life and traffic.
According to the weather department, areas including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain. This could lead to waterlogging on various roads, slowing down traffic. Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated on weather conditions.
There is a possibility of significant traffic congestion during peak hours in the morning and evening due to the rain. Recent rainfall has already caused waterlogging on several major routes and underpasses. Consequently, municipal bodies and relevant agencies are on high alert. Instructions have been issued to ensure proper drainage systems are maintained and to monitor waterlogged areas closely.
