Weather Forecast for Rainfall

Many regions in India are set to experience rainfall on Thursday and Friday, providing a much-needed respite from the intense heat. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings for rain from Thursday morning through Friday morning across various states.


Heavy rainfall is anticipated in the coastal areas of West Bengal, Konkan, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, and several parts of Northeast India.


According to the weather department, Haldia in West Bengal recorded 10 cm of rain, followed by Diamond Harbour with 9 cm. Both Dum Dum and Alipore stations in Kolkata noted 4 cm each, while Digha received 2 cm.


In Konkan and Goa, rainfall was also reported, with Panaji receiving 9 cm, and both Mumbai (Santa Cruz) and Ratnagiri recording 3 cm each. In coastal Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati saw 9 cm, while Machilipatnam and Visakhapatnam recorded 5 cm each. Nellore received 4 cm, and Vijayawada-Gannavaram and Bapatla each noted 2 cm.


In Odisha, Jharsuguda recorded 3 cm, and Paradip Port saw 2 cm of rainfall. Coastal Karnataka's Mangalore noted 3 cm, while Gorakhpur in Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Kalaburagi in Northern Karnataka each received 2 cm. Chandigarh in Haryana and Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh also recorded 2 cm each. In Kerala and Mahe, Kannur experienced rainfall, although specific figures were not detailed.


In the Northeast, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura saw Kailashahar receive 8 cm and Agartala 2 cm. In Assam and Meghalaya, Dhubri recorded 7 cm, Cherapunji 3 cm, and Shillong 2 cm. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands' Shri Vijaypuram noted 5 cm, while Aurangabad in Marathwada received 4 cm. Hyderabad and Ramagundam in Telangana also recorded 4 cm each. Solapur in Maharashtra noted 4 cm, and Nagpur in Vidarbha recorded 3 cm. The IMD predicts that heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue in parts of the western coast, including Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala over the next few days.
