The incident occurred after a sudden storm hit the area on Thursday, causing the river cruise, which was carrying around 30 passengers, to overturn. So far, nine fatalities have been confirmed, with several individuals still unaccounted for, although 22 people have been rescued.

A diving team from Agra reported that conditions inside the sunken boat were extremely challenging. They had to navigate through limited space, broken structures, and protruding iron rods, often using hammers to create pathways. One diver narrowly escaped becoming trapped during the operation. The visibility was nearly zero, and equipment frequently got entangled with debris, complicating the rescue efforts.

Despite the difficulties, the rescue team has successfully retrieved five bodies from the reservoir, including one child and four adults. Officials noted that the boat's structure had collapsed on both sides, making the situation even more perilous due to the grills inside. The emotional toll of the operation was evident, as rescuers recounted the challenges of separating the mother from her child, who she held tightly in her arms.
