On Friday, Kumar Ravi, the Secretary of the Health Department, visited the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna to inspect the ongoing redevelopment and expansion projects on-site. He evaluated the progress of various initiatives, including a 500-bed teaching hospital, a 1200-bed hospital, hostels, and residential buildings, and gathered updates from the relevant officials and construction agency regarding the current status of the work.
High-Level Review Meeting
Following the site inspection, the Health Secretary conducted a high-level review meeting. The meeting focused on a detailed assessment of the progress of various construction projects, including the 500-bed teaching hospital and the 1200-bed hospital.
Project Updates and Timelines
During the meeting, a presentation was made to inform the Health Secretary about the current status of the projects. He instructed the construction agency to expedite the work on the 500-bed teaching hospital, aiming for completion within the next three months. Kumar Ravi emphasized that the progress of construction would be reviewed weekly.
Prioritizing HVAC Work
He also directed that the internal and external HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) tasks be prioritized, with a deadline set for August 31, 2026. The Secretary instructed the rapid completion of all remaining tasks, including the installation of the chiller plant, cooling tower, pumps, water treatment plant, piping, and ducting.
Progress on Additional Facilities
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the 1200-bed hospital, hostels, and residential buildings. It was reported that 59.24% of this ambitious project has been completed so far. The Health Secretary urged for accelerated construction to ensure all tasks are completed with high quality within the stipulated timeline.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Kumar Ravi reiterated the state government's commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure.
