Minister's Visit to RML Hospital
On Tuesday, Union Health Minister JP Nadda visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in the capital. His visit followed a protest march by the CJP on Monday, during which several individuals were injured due to police action. Nadda arrived at the hospital to speak with those who were admitted for treatment after sustaining injuries during the demonstration. During his visit, the minister also held discussions with doctors to assess the condition of the injured and the medical care they were receiving. After reviewing the treatment arrangements and meeting with the patients, Nadda departed from the hospital. In addition to Nadda, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also visited the injured protesters at RML Hospital.
Violence During the Protest
The CJP's protest march towards Parliament on Monday escalated into violence. The Delhi police reported that over 118 officers were injured during the clashes, along with approximately 60 protesters. According to police statements, demonstrators allegedly threw stones and other objects at officers, attempted to breach barricades, vandalized police and government vehicles, and damaged public property. The police have filed FIRs against unidentified individuals for the alleged vandalism and stone-pelting incidents that occurred in Connaught Place and Parliament Street.
CJP Delegation Meets Health Minister
A delegation from the CJP met with Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Monday, presenting several demands, including the resignation of the Prime Minister, a compensation of 1 crore rupees for the families of deceased NEET candidates, and the immediate release of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is receiving treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. Saurav Das, the chief spokesperson for CJP, stated that the protests would continue until the Prime Minister resigns. Nadda, the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, mentioned that he received a proposal from the protesters to engage in dialogue with the government and urged them to end their sit-in.
Sonam Wangchuk's Condition
Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk is being treated under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors at Safdarjung Hospital. According to the latest bulletin from the hospital, his vital parameters are stable; however, his blood sugar levels remain low, and his serum potassium level is recorded at 3.2 mEq/L. The hospital reported that Wangchuk is receiving oral rehydration therapy and potassium supplements, but he has refused intravenous fluids and glucose despite medical advice.
