Health Crisis Erupts at Religious Gathering in Uttar Pradesh
Health Emergency in Kannauj District
A troubling situation unfolded in the Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh during a religious gathering when 62 individuals reportedly fell ill after consuming prasad during a Satyanarayan Katha ceremony. This incident took place at the residence of Munna Lal Kashyap in Simupur village, where devotees had gathered for the event on Friday night. According to officials, the prasad included Panchamrit and Panjeeri, which were served to attendees. Several hours after consuming the prasad, many began to experience health issues such as stomach pain, vomiting, and weakness late into the night.
Patients Admitted to District Hospital
Initially, family members rushed the affected individuals to nearby private clinics for immediate treatment. However, as the number of patients increased and symptoms worsened, all were later admitted to the district hospital for medical care. Health officials reported that the condition of the patients is currently stable. Authorities are also investigating the potential causes of the illness and checking for contamination in the food distributed during the ceremony.
Similar Incident Reported in Bengaluru
A similar incident occurred earlier this year during the Ram Navami celebrations in the Bengaluru rural district, where around 400 devotees consumed temple prasad, leading to approximately 60 individuals falling ill. Many reported symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea shortly after eating the prasad. Health officials had sent food samples for forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of the incident.
