Haryana Minister Accuses Punjab Government of Silencing Media
Allegations Against Punjab's AAP Government
On Friday, Anil Vij, the Energy and Transport Minister of Haryana, accused the Punjab government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), of attempting to suppress media voices. This accusation came in response to claims made by the Punjab Kesari newspaper group regarding repeated raids conducted by enforcement agencies at their premises.
The senior BJP leader asserted that the Bhagwant Mann administration is unjustly targeting the Punjab Kesari group and its affiliated entities without any valid justification. Vij expressed that the actions taken by the state government indicate a state of emergency has been imposed in Punjab.
The newspaper group had previously sent a letter to Chief Minister Mann on Thursday, alleging that they were being intimidated through raids at their office. Former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda described the attempts to intimidate the media group as extremely concerning.
