Strategic Meeting to Address Air Quality Issues
The Haryana government is formulating an extensive strategy to tackle pollution. Last Friday, a high-level review meeting was convened in Gurugram, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, focusing on air pollution control in the National Capital Region (NCR).
During this meeting, key issues related to improving air quality were discussed, and relevant departments were instructed to ensure timely action.
The emphasis was placed on expanding the Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (CAAQMS), implementing the 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy, taking action against older polluting vehicles, enhancing the electric vehicle (EV) charging network, managing construction and demolition (C&D) waste, solid waste disposal, and controlling industrial pollution.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the need for timely and effective implementation of all pollution control agendas. He directed regular monitoring of traffic congestion hotspots, road redevelopment, expansion of electric buses, and rapid development of the charging station network.
The Chief Minister announced that the Haryana government will introduce a new electric vehicle (EV) policy in the upcoming cabinet meeting, aimed at promoting clean transportation across the state, including NCR.

Efforts to Create Green Intersections and Control Dust
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav issued directives to develop green areas at major intersections in NCR, including Gurugram, Faridabad, and Sonipat, through regular deep cleaning, filling potholes, and planting trees to reduce PM-10 and dust pollution.
Officials have been tasked with identifying all major sites and preparing an action plan within a month. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of transforming all key traffic locations into green spaces, following the model of Rajiv Chowk.

Additionally, the meeting included instructions for a scientific analysis of traffic congestion hotspots in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Bahadurgarh to devise permanent solutions.
Moreover, to curb incidents of stubble burning, a comprehensive public awareness campaign will be launched in coordination with district administration, the agriculture department, and local representatives, along with the implementation of a targeted action plan.
