Haryana Government to Build New Road Linking Delhi-Gurugram Expressway to Global City Project
New Infrastructure Development in Gurugram
The Haryana government has announced plans to construct a new roadway that will connect the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway to the Global City project located on Pataudi Road in Sector 36 of Gurugram, as confirmed by officials on Friday.
A senior representative from the Gurugram Metropolitan Region Development Authority (GMDA) stated that the proposed road will span 60 meters in width and run parallel to a newly built drain in Narsinghpur, facilitating access from both the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and Pataudi Road, as well as the Dwarka Expressway.
According to a GMDA official, the land designated for this road is situated in the villages of Khandsa and Mohammadpur Jharsa, with portions being privately owned and entangled in legal disputes, while other sections belong to the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC). The Global City initiative is a top priority for the Haryana government, and enhancing access via the expressway will significantly benefit this residential and commercial development.
The Global City is being developed by HSIIDC over more than 1,000 acres across Sectors 36, 36B, 37, and 37B in Gurugram. This mixed-use project is expected to encompass approximately 12 million square meters of built-up space, featuring commercial and residential towers, offices, retail outlets, hospitals, educational institutions, innovation hubs, incubation centers, hotels, cultural spaces, exhibition and convention facilities, green areas, and water reservoirs.
Next week, a detailed discussion regarding the road project will take place, chaired by DS Dhesi, Principal Advisor for Urban Development. This meeting will mark the inaugural session of the district coordination committee, where additional local development initiatives will also be addressed.
The proposed 60-meter-wide road will be constructed alongside the Narsinghpur kutcha nala, designed to link the lower region of the area to the Badshahpur drain.
Officials have indicated that the first phase of the Global City project is currently being developed on 587 acres, with trunk infrastructure underway. This phase will include the establishment of 13 kilometers of internal roads, an 82-acre green landscape, a 26-kilometer rainwater drainage system, an 11.96-kilometer potable water pipeline, a 12-kilometer recycled water pipeline, and a 10-kilometer utility tunnel. Completion of this phase is anticipated by December 2026.
