Haryana Assembly Winter Session Begins Amid No-Confidence Motion Discussions
Haryana Assembly's Winter Session Commences
The winter session of the Haryana Assembly is set to commence today, with the Congress party contemplating a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. In response to this development, Saini stated that the government is fully prepared to address all questions and engage in discussions within the assembly. He emphasized that despite procedural time constraints, the government has demonstrated its willingness to engage with the opposition by convening this winter session. Saini remarked, “We are ready to answer every question on all issues and are eager for discussions.” The budget session has just concluded, and if another session is to be called, it could occur six months later. Nevertheless, we have called this winter session.
Bhupinder Hooda Meets Party Legislators
Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, held a meeting with party leaders and legislators on Tuesday. He reiterated his claims of electoral fraud, stating that a no-confidence motion will be introduced to expose the BJP. Hooda declared, “We will bring a no-confidence motion against the Haryana BJP government during the assembly session.” Today, we convened a meeting of the Congress legislative party at his residence in Chandigarh. This government was formed through electoral fraud, misuse of government machinery, illegal inducements before elections, and fake voter lists. All these issues will be unveiled in the house. Furthermore, he mentioned that the government will be scrutinized on rising unemployment, poor sports facilities, flood compensation, law and order, increasing corruption, the Chandigarh dispute, and the SYL issue. The rights of Haryana and the voice of the people will be strongly raised in the assembly.
Current Political Landscape in Haryana
It is important to note that the Haryana Assembly consists of 90 seats. The BJP holds a comfortable majority, with 51 members supporting the government, including 48 BJP legislators and three independents. The Congress has 37 members in the assembly, while the INLD has two. Given this numerical advantage, it seems unlikely that Saini's government will be significantly affected by the no-confidence motion.
