Harshit Rana Joins Indian Cricket Team as Unofficial Cover in England

Harshit Rana's Role with the Indian Team
Harshit Rana, a promising young cricketer from India, has been retained with the national team in England as an unofficial member. This decision was confirmed by a BCCI official, who stated that Rana is serving as a backup for players dealing with minor injuries.
Although Rana has not been officially named in the squad, he remains with the team and traveled from London to Leeds with them on June 17.
The Indian team, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, boasts a strong pace attack featuring five main bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep Singh. Additionally, they have two pace-bowling all-rounders, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shardul Thakur, adding versatility to the lineup.
Rana has previously represented the India A team in two matches against the England Lions and participated in an intra-squad game at Beckenham. The other members of the India A squad have reportedly returned home.
In other news, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir is expected to rejoin the team shortly, likely on Tuesday. He had temporarily returned to Delhi due to a family emergency involving his mother's hospitalization.
Reports indicate that Gambhir departed the national capital for London on Tuesday morning. The first Test of the newly named Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England is set to begin on Friday, June 20, in Leeds.
