Fitness Preparations for the Asia Cup

Before the announcement of the Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to take a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is still recovering from sports hernia surgery and will spend an additional week at the NCA to regain full fitness.

Hardik Pandya's Fitness Schedule

According to reports, Hardik Pandya's routine fitness assessment is scheduled for August 11 and 12. He has been training in Mumbai since mid-July. The 31-year-old has played a crucial role in India's victories at the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025, showcasing impressive performances in white-ball cricket. The Indian team is counting on him to deliver similar results in the Asia Cup.

Shreyas Iyer's Recent Fitness Test

Prior to Pandya, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer underwent his fitness test from July 27 to 29. Iyer, who has not played T20 for India since December 2023, had an outstanding IPL season, leading Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in 2024 and guiding Punjab Kings to the finals in 2025. It remains to be seen if the selectors will give him another opportunity.

Suryakumar Yadav's Recovery

During this period, T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is still on the mend from his sports hernia surgery performed in Munich, Germany, in June. Reports indicate that he will need to spend another week at the NCA under the supervision of the physiotherapy and medical team to ensure a complete recovery. Recently, he shared a video on Instagram showing himself practicing batting at the NCA.
