On Friday, renowned Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya voiced his support for the Indian Armed Forces in light of the rising tensions between India and Pakistan. He expressed his gratitude for their bravery and dedication.


In an Instagram story, the 31-year-old athlete stated, "I am proud and thankful to our armed forces for their courage and sacrifices. Thank you for ensuring the safety of everyone in our country."


Suspension of Sports Events

Several sporting events in India faced suspension or delays on Friday due to the escalating cross-border tensions.


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the immediate suspension of the ongoing IPL 2025 for one week, citing the current situation between the two nations.


BCCI's Official Statement on IPL Suspension


"The BCCI has decided to suspend the remaining matches of the TATA IPL 2025 effective immediately for one week. Updates regarding the new schedule and venues will be shared after a thorough evaluation of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders," stated BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.


Postponement of Neeraj Chopra Classic

Later that day, the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, scheduled for May 24 at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, was postponed indefinitely due to the rising tensions.


"Given the current circumstances, the inaugural NC Classic has been postponed until further notice. This decision was made after careful consideration, prioritizing the safety of athletes, stakeholders, and the wider community," the NC Classic announced on Instagram.


Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 Delayed

In light of recent events, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to postpone the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 along with all associated pre-events.


"Considering the current national situation, the CAB has chosen to delay the start of Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 and all related pre-events until further notice. A revised schedule, including updated venues and fixtures, will be provided after a comprehensive review in coordination with relevant authorities and any advisories from the BCCI," the CAB stated.
